Good Cop, Bad Cop

One of the requirements of establishing democracy is eliminating the “good cop, bad cop” system of repression of political choice.  Doing that pretty much* requires Approval Voting .

As one letter-writer says, [Approval Voting] “attenuates the effect of negative campaigning. In today’s system, an effective negative campaign can win an election, but in approval voting, it will only bring one opponent down. This ensures that the candidate with the most positive support will win.”

* Score Voting would be good, too, but Approval is simpler to explain, and can be tallied by hand.
